A few expositions on a specific subject really include works of art created during a period of almost a century and a half as the collection Self-portrait.Visible image and hidden sense. The exhibition at the Sofia City Art Gallery contains more than 200 paintings by 190 authors who had created their own image by different techniques. The self-portraits are made by Bulgarian painters in a period starting from the end of 19th , including 20th and beginning of 21st centuries representing a vast variety of genres. There are self-portraits in full height and i half height or only head in different poses including some additional images, objects , environment, situation and clothing. There are some images in that exposition that really stand out - the images of Elisaveta Konsulova - Vazova, Ivan Nenov, Liuben Zidarov, Andrei Daniel and Vihroni Popnedelev. Moreover there are also some self-portraits of many unknown or forgotten names in Bulgarian art.
